Teaching lessons given by Holocaust survivor
A Holocaust survivor is meeting with a group of school staff to discuss the way in which they teach the subject.
Retired teacher Norbert Herz, who is based in Manchester, will speak to 80 teachers from the area at a specially organised event at the Imperial War Museum North.
The 77-year-old managed to escape from both Germany and France before travelling to Switzerland, Palestine and eventually settling in England.
He will address the teachers about what it was like to live through the Holocaust, as well as discuss how it is best to broach the subject in the classroom.
"This event will provide accurate tools to educators to deal with teaching the Holocaust in the classroom," organiser Dr Jean-Marc Dreyfus of the University of Manchester stated.
Holocaust Memorial Day takes place each year on January 27th and is marked by schools and pupils across the UK.
