Teacher takes gap year to train others in Africa
Six months off from teaching has seen 43-year-old Dave Parry devote his time to training others in Africa.
And his time working with new teachers in Tanzania is not up yet - he still has six months more to go, reports the Plymouth Herald.
Mr Parry quit his job at Ernesettle Primary in Plymouth to spend a year teaching others how to use computers and technology in a classroom setting.
After half-a-year in the country, he has managed to settle in, come to terms with the cultural differences and pick up a little Swahili.
He told the paper: "I hope to narrow the technology knowledge gap
that seems to exist between the developed countries and Africa," adding that he is looking forward to continuing his work in the Iringa area.
Norwich Evening News reported last month that Bignold Primary School and Nursery year two teacher Cherri Moseley recently headed to South Africa for two weeks to train teachers to take maths lessons in a creative manner.
