Schools 'should teach about infertility'
Sex education lessons should include teaching about the growing problem of infertility, said an expert this week.
Lisa Jardine, the new head of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority, stated that pupils should be taught about the chances of not being able to conceive, alongside the more traditional lessons about how to avoid getting pregnant, reports the Guardian.
The professor of renaissance studies at Queen Mary, London University, told the paper: "Someone had better start teaching about how you do get pregnant, because there are going to be a lot of extremely disappointed people out there."
According to Ms Jardine, infertility will affect one in seven people in the modern world.
She noted that more people need to be aware of this issue, calling on teachers to help inform the younger generation.
The BBC reported earlier this month that the NSPCC has urged the government to ensure a focus on emotions and relations is incorporated into sex education, to combat the growing pressure young people feel to have sex.
