Role of teachers in sports project highlighted
One of the men behind a successful sports scheme for schools has highlighted the role of teachers in the implementation of the project.
Wasim Khan, director of operations at Chance to Shine - which aims to get young people involved in cricket - noted that for the scheme to work the support of teachers is vital, reports Reuters.
Bank of England governor Mervyn King and former cricket players Duncan Fearnley and Mark Nicholas developed the programme, which also aims to boost the confidence and discipline of children.
"Ultimately if the teachers aren't interested it's not going to happen. It's very important that cricket is made fun, made enjoyable, and that teachers see it as a viable option," Mr Khan told the news source.
In the build up to the 2012 Olympic Games in London, the prime minister recently pledged to increase sports provision for England's schools.
