Role of new teaching leaders celebrated
Headteachers who will assist with leadership at struggling schools around the country will meet this week at a dinner hosted by schools minister Jim Knight.
The new National Leaders of Education (NLEs) have been appointed by the National College for School Leadership (NCSL) and number approximately 60.
Working alongside leaders of secondary schools around the country, they will use their experience to help boost standards.
And they are meeting to celebrate their appointment as well as discuss what their new position will involve.
"NLEs, supported by their schools, have a more important role to play than ever in ensuring that excellent school leadership and the best possible opportunities are available to as many children as possible," stated NCSL's strategic director of school leadership development Toby Salt.
The last few weeks have seen outstanding staff throughout the UK honoured for their teaching ability during the Teaching Awards roadshow.
