New Scottish curriculum reviewed by teachers
Teaching in Scotland is due to undergo a major overhaul with the introduction of the Curriculum for Excellence.
And yesterday, teachers and other education professionals were given a chance to review the proposals, before being invited by education secretary Fiona Hyslop to give their verdict on the plans.
These involve proposals to replace the current Standard and Intermediate grades with General and Advanced General grade exams.
While Highers and Advanced Highers will reamin in place, they will be revamped to be brought in line with the rest of the new system.
The Curriculum for Excellence is due to cover all pupils between the ages of three and 18.
According to the Herald, Ms Hyslop told those involved in education in the country: "I am now challenging each of you individually, as well as together in communities, to become fully engaged champions of Curriculum for Excellence and continue to work with us on how to best implement these changes."
Another new qualification, the Scottish Baccalaureate, will be available to Highers students from this year, allowing them to specialise in science, modern languages or technology.
