Holocaust teaching guidance given in Israel
Teaching students about the Holocaust may now be a little bit easier for Lottie Rowe.
The Ridgeway School religious education teacher travelled to Jerusalem for a training programme especially designed for school staff.
As part of the course, which was run by the Holocaust Educational Trust and Holocaust Remembrance Authority Yad Vashem, participants were spoken to by a survivor of the atrocities.
The aim of the programme was to help teachers better educate their pupils about the subject.
"I can now pass on to my students, not just a greater awareness of the past, but a profound understanding of the contemporary lessons of the Holocaust," Ms Lowe told the paper.
An event at the Imperial War Museum North last month saw Holocaust survivor Norbert Herz talked to a number of teachers about how they could more effectively teach their pupils the subject, which is on the national curriculum.
