Fundraising visit for Bradford teachers
A music teacher, two retired teachers and an education professional will be among the visitors to a deprived village in Kenya next month.
Schools project manager for the Bingley primary schools cluster Beverley Ford will be returning to the village of Utange after first visiting it two years ago, reports the Telegraph and Argus.
Since then, pupils and teachers from Bradford have raised thousands of pounds to benefit the local vulnerable community.
A primary school, secondary school, nursery and orphanage have now been constructed and will be seen by the guests.
Some of the money for these projects was raised by concerts performed by the Singing Children of Africa in the north-east of England.
"Because of the recent unrest, things have not been easy for the people of Kenya," Ms Ford told the paper.
Earlier this month Kalengeija Primary staff and pupils welcomed five Northumberland teachers who visited the Ugandan school.
