Doncaster lecturer nominated for award
A University Centre Doncaster lecturer has been nominated for a national education award, in news which may be of interest to those holding teaching jobs.
Dr Monika Smialkowska, BA (Hons) English lecturer, is in the running for the National Teaching Fellowship Scheme Individual Award, which goes to the top higher education practitioners.
The nomination to the Higher Education Academy, the awarding body, was made by Dr Smialkowska's colleagues in the faculty of social science, due to her contribution to the quality of education offered at the institution.
Among her achievements, Dr Smialkowska founded an open lecture forum, to bring together enthusiasts of literature and culture.
"It is a great honour to be put forward for this award and I am deeply touched by the faculty's appreciation of my work," she commented.
Dean of the faculty of social science Graham Stevens applauded Dr Smialkowska's "great passion" and said she provides the "absolute best in learning experiences".
The Higher Education Academy supports institutions and their staff with strategies for learning, professional development and good practice.
