Agricultural lesson for teachers
School staff from Coventry and Warwickshire took a break from teaching when they headed to a local farm to learn some agricultural lessons.
According to the Coventry Telegraph, Pleasance Farm in Kenilworth played host to a number of teachers as part of a sustainable farming day.
In a programme sponsored by Connexions and the charity Farming and Countryside Education, geography and science teachers learnt about a number of issues affecting modern farmers.
These included genetic engineering, breeding, the management of a farm and the impact of agricultural policy.
Jenny Stokes from Connexions said: "Teachers were shown firsthand how a farm is coping with the changing demands for food and also how they are working towards protecting the environment," reported the paper.
Another example of teachers being given their own lesson was in south-east England last month, when science teachers took part in a special training session to learn how to make the subject more fun for pupils.
