A-level teachers win praise from TUC
Teachers have been praised for their tireless work to ensure that students achieve their maximum potential at A-level.
Speaking in response to the A-level results out today, deputy general secretary of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) Frances O'Grady commended both school staff and students for their efforts.
The pass rate for this year amounted to over 97 per cent, a record result following 26 consecutive years of increases to this figure.
"Today's record results are a fitting testament to the hard graft that students and teachers have put in over the last two years," said Ms O'Grady.
She added that it is "not helpful" to present criticism that exams may have become easier over recent years.
The A-level results follow news earlier this week that this year has seen a rise in the number of key stage three pupils achieving level five in maths.
