New Zealand teaching differences explored by former head
A former headteacher is visiting New Zealand to look at the different teacher training methods undertaken in the country.
Neil Short is due to spend six weeks in the north island as part of the project he is currently working on, Leadership in Small Primary Schools, according to the Star.
His travelling and accommodation will be funded by the Winston Churchill Memorial Trust, after he won a fellowship.
And his main focus when visiting staff, pupils and parents at between 15 and 20 schools in New Zealand will be on how teachers are trained in the small schools that have differing needs to other educational institutions, he told the paper.
Mr Short noted: "Teachers don't always get the specific training they might need and, when they do, there are very different ways of delivering it
"I can't wait to find out and to share my new-found knowledge when I return to the UK."
This month will see a Kenyan village welcome a group of Bradford teachers, who will be visiting the new educational facilities of which they helped raise money for the building.
