New scheme to develop 'creative teaching approaches'
Trainee teachers could soon be developing their skills away from the classroom, under a new scheme.
Derby's Bloom! project is being considered as an example of how such initiatives can benefit teaching methods, thisisderbyshire.co.uk reports.
The project was aimed at discovering creative approaches to the teaching of subjects including English, maths and science, with more than 100 trainee teachers taking part in workshops.
And now its success will see it included as a case study when the government-backed Teaching Outside the Classroom programme campaign is launched, aiming to promote placements in the likes of museums, galleries and football clubs.
Proponents claim such initiatives would help bring the teaching of core subjects to life.
Meanwhile, media including games and films are being thought of as new ways to engage pupils.
Delegates at the Narrative and Interactive Learning Environments conference last week heard how such technology could help improve literacy, the Edinburgh Evening News reported.
