Schools come together for sports
Pupils at an independent school and a state school could soon be playing sports together, thanks to a new link-up between the two.
Beechen Cliff School and the Royal High School's sixth form college have formed a partnership which will give students the chance to take part in joint cultural and sporting events, reports the Bath Chronicle.
The Bath Enrichment Partnership will see the creation of a combined sports teams, a new theatre company and extra courses.
Rugby and hockey made up of players from both schools will share training sessions and facilities, while the theatre company will stage a production each autumn and give students the opportunity to learn about all aspects of live performances.
Beechen Cliff head Andrew Davies told the paper: "This is an important strategic development for both of us.
"It shows how closer co-operation between the maintained and independent sectors can enhance the quality of provision for all students."
Yesterday, the Chad newspaper reported that teachers at a Nottinghamshire school are to go on a cricket course, so they can encourage pupils to take up the sport.
