College picks up enterprise award
A college has won a prestigious Queen's Award for Enterprise due to its efforts in marketing education abroad.
Ealing, Hammersmith and West London College received the award for its International Student Centre, which is the biggest provider of education to international students in the UK.
The foreign students who attend the college bring £4.5 million in fees and contribute around £16 million to the London economy.
Amarjit Basi, the college principal, said: "As the largest further education recruiter of overseas students, we have consistently demonstrated innovation and excellence in our programmes for overseas learners, equipping them with skills for employment and higher learning within a global context."
Over the past three years, the International Student Centre has seen attendance grow from 450 overseas students to the 2,000 today.
It was because of this growth in education and overseas business that the college became the first to receive the Queen's Award for Enterprise: International Trade.
The college also works closely with the British High Commission and British Council in its programme to deliver education to overseas students.
