School praised for "imaginative" teaching
A school in Hampshire has received ratings of "outstanding" or "good" in every area of its latest Ofsted report.
Inspectors attributed the high scores to "consistently good teaching", noting that staff there had contributed to an increase in standards, the Daily Echo reports.
Writing in the report, inspector Rob Crompton said of Bishop's Waltham Infant School: "Lessons excite pupils as teachers provide imaginative activities that fully engage them. Consequently, pupils develop excellent attitudes to learning and are very keen to participate."
In addition, a hands-on approach that included trips outside the classroom was found to have contributed to an increase in standards, with attainment at the school now above average.
An Ofsted report last week suggested that trips could help boost participation.
In particular, visits to museums and historical landmarks in other countries were proposed as means to improve achievement among pupils that are difficult to motivate.
