Norfolk pupils clean up their act
Police community support officers have been visiting schools in Norfolk to help raise the pupils' awareness of green issues.
And this week it was the turn of children at Terrington St Clement Community School, who welcomed members of Terrington Safer Neighbourhood Team, reports Lynn News.
The pupils learnt about the importance of being environmentally friendly, with fun lessons about a number of issues including littering and graffiti, as well as some more serious talks about stranger danger and bullying.
Schools throughout the area have been visited by the officers, including the nearby Churchgateway school.
Angela Tegerdine, a PCSO, told the paper: "We wanted to introduce ourselves to the children so they can approach us and talk to us. We also wanted to see what was going on in schools and become a part of the community."
Pupils also got a chance to put what they had learnt into action, with a litter pick of the school grounds.
This week, a reward of £20,000 worth of solar panels was given to Tavernspite School in Wales as part of the Green Energy for Schools scheme, for its environmentally-friendly initiatives.
