Mansfield school is "outstanding"

A school in Mansfield has been given a glowing report after its most recent Ofsted inspection.

Abbey Primary School was given an outstanding rating across the board from its inspection in April.

The report said: "Not only do pupils achieve exceptionally well in their academic studies but their personal development is also outstanding."

It added that this is because the students receive "excellent care, guidance and support from staff" and the health education sessions make a "significant contribution to their personal development".

Despite such an outstanding report Ofsted did say the school could improve by reducing the number of holidays which pupils took during term-time.

Among the areas which were rated as outstanding were achievement and standards, quality of provision and personal development and well-being.

Headteacher Karen Bromly said she was "proud and delighted" by the report.

The school is for children aged between four and 11 and as of 2004, had 309 pupils.
