15% rise in demand for teachers in Swindon

Select Education plc, the largest and longest established specialist education recruitment company, is reporting a 15% increase in demand from local schools for teaching and support staff over the last 2 years. It is now establishing an office in Swindon dedicated to serving local schools. In the past Select Education has supported schools in Swindon and Wiltshire from its Southampton and Bristol offices.

Peter Flannery, Managing Director of Select Education commented, 'The speed and volume of change in education means that there is a need for greater flexibility in the education workforce. We are responding to this by opening a new office that will cater for the needs of Swindon and Wiltshire. We think this will be very positive for schools, teachers, support staff and pupils.'

He added, 'Swindon is a buoyant, expanding town with excellent schools and colleges. The workforce reform agreement has changed the way teachers work and attempted to introduce a better work/life balance. At the same time demand for teachers, teaching assistants and support staff continues to rise. The demand for education staff will also increase with the introduction of optional extended school hours for 4 14 year olds in the near future so we recognise that schools are going to need even more support to ensure they have the right staff in place, and we'll be here to offer that.'

Sue Sturton, Regional Manager for Select Education in the South West added, 'Our approach is always to have face to face contact with our clients and education staff so having a dedicated office in Swindon will be more convenient for them and ensure they receive the best and most efficient service.'

The new office will be located in the Shaftesbury Centre on Percy Street and will open on the 15th August. Contact Matthew Smith on 0845 600 1234
