Principal appointed WorldSkills champion
The principal of a London college has won double recognition of her achievements, which may be inspiring to those seeking head teacher vacancies.
Vicki Fagg, principal of the College of North West London, has been appointed as the WorldSkills UK Champion for London for the next three years.
In this position, she will promote skills excellence and skills competitions throughout the London area, which aims to encourage students to develop their potential.
The week previously, Ms Fagg had been selected to meet prime minister Gordon Brown at Downing Street to discuss WorldSkills London 2011 and leadership in schools and colleges.
Saying she was "delighted" to meet the prime minister, she continued: "But I am equally thrilled with this skills honour, because it recognises our success and commitment that our skills within the college shall be of the highest quality."
WorldSkills 2011 will feature a range of young people from across the globe, who will enter into competitions testing skills commonly used in the workplace.
