'More clarity needed over diplomas'
Head teachers have asked the government for more clarity on the changes involved in the new 14-19 curriculum.
In developments which may interest those seeking head teacher vacancies, the National Association of Head Teachers (NAHT) has called for more information on the funding, IT security and provision of career advice.
Mick Brookes, general secretary of NAHT, said: "We are very supportive of the government's determination to bring the curriculum into the 21st century and we recognise the importance of ensuring the new diplomas succeed."
However, Mr Brookes said that there were "doubts and uncertainties" about how the changes to the education system are to be delivered.
Singled out were the levels of funding that will be given towards providing the needed resources, having correct training for the Minerva IT platform and how to give careers advice to children in Year 9.
Also mentioned was how to background check employers working with children in vocational placements and how to ensure pupils with special educational needs received the same level of vocational training as their peers.
The NAHT has membership of over 28,000 and works to support the interests of the UK's head teachers.
