Select Education Candidate Takes Centre Stage On Teachers' TV
'Day in the Life of a Supply Teacher' to be broadcast on 25 January at 4pm
Emma Clamp, a candidate from Select Education, the UK's number one specialist education recruitment agency, is placing supply teaching in the spotlight as the subject of a 'Day in the Life' documentary to be broadcast on Teachers' TV on Wednesday, 25 January at 4pm. The TV cameras have shadowed the work of the 27-year-old education professional at Lister Community School in Plaistow, East London, delivering lessons in maths, history and geography to a range of year groups.
The documentary provides a valuable insight into the diverse opportunities offered by supply teaching as an education career path and focuses on the development of teaching plans and workload management. Emma, who comes from Chigwell, Essex and works via Select Education's Ilford branch, has been teaching for seven years, the last of which as a supply teacher. She has an MSc in Engineering, as well as a PGCE in maths from Bristol University.
Commenting on her broadcast experience, Emma said: 'Thankfully the TV cameras did not prove too daunting and I was able to deliver my lessons to plan. Perhaps the biggest difference was in the improved behaviour of the children when they knew they were on camera!' She added: 'Taking the supply route has definitely benefited my career, thanks to the huge diversity of placement opportunities on offer. Working with Select Education has enabled me to take advantage of the flexibility supply teaching has to offer, helping me to find work where and when I need it.'
