Select Education Achieves Industry Training Standard

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC), the association for the UK's 26 billion private recruitment and staffing industry has announced that Select Education has been accepted into the REC's Accreditation Scheme, leading to the Certificate in Recruitment Practice qualification.

Select Education is the leading UK and global educational staffing specialist which provides a quality, individual service to over 10,000 teachers and support staff, as well as 15,000 schools who use the service throughout the UK. Every day, Select Education teachers, assistants and lecturers work alongside 120,000 young people, positively shaping their lives at nurseries, schools, colleges and training organisations across the UK.

Established in 1993, Select Education has grown to be the largest recruitment agency within the education industry and offers a unique network of over 30 offices throughout the UK. Each office has a team of education specialists which include dedicated primary, secondary, special needs (SEN) and teaching early years consultants.

Peter Flannery, Managing Director of Select Education said: 'The Company has always been dedicated to the development of its staff and I am delighted that our newly improved induction programme has been approved by the REC. This enables us to provide an industry recognised qualification for all staff which is important if we wish to continue to attract and retain the best people.'

Lisa Patient FREC, Select Education's Recruitment and Training Manager, added: 'Not only am I proud to have the quality of our training recognised by the REC, but I am also excited by the message it sends out to our clients and candidates - deal with Select Education and you will work with people who are dedicated to the highest standards of service. In turn, newly appointed consultants are assured of a comprehensive, quality induction training programme accredited by the industry's professional body.'

The scheme offers recruitment companies the opportunity to prepare consultants for the Certificate in Recruitment Practice qualification through their own REC approved induction training. Accredited Induction Scheme centres have to demonstrate that their training is consistent with the certificate syllabus and that their teaching complies with the REC Code of Good Recruitment Practice.

The Certificate in Recruitment Practice is the first level qualification for recruitment practitioners and is studied by over 2,500 consultants each year. Successful students have to demonstrate their understanding of the recruitment process, employment agency and discrimination legislation, the sales process and interviewing.

Commenting on Select Education's accreditation, Judith Armatage, REC Director of Professional Development says: 'We are impressed that Select Education have demonstrated their belief in the importance of industry qualifications and have been accepted onto the Scheme. It is imperative that the REC and industry trainers work together to raise standards and make recruitment qualifications more accessible'
