Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose to do temporary supply teaching?
Supply teaching is an important
part of any school, so you would be fulfilling a vital role. It also gives you the opportunity to work in many and varied positions within different schools allowing your teaching experience to develop and rewarding you with exciting opportunities. It also gives you control over the amount of work you take on at times to suit you. Select Education has close relationships with our schools and pride ourselves on providing highly professional and enthusiastic people like you.
Will the school set work?
99.9% of the time work will be left for you by the
school, however, you should never assume this and it is not acceptable to
arrive at school without any personal resources available. The children may
finish work early or the class teacher may have left school suddenly. Therefore
it is always advisable to have some 'general ideas' for activities that can be
drawn up with minimum need for extra resources. For example, you may carry some
books with you which you can read to the children and for which you can set
many follow up tasks that can be performed at a variety of levels.
I am a graduate and I am thinking of becoming a
teacher, but I am told I need to find a placement within a school before I can
start a PGCE, can you help?
Yes, we have placed many graduates into schools over
the years and they have all gone on to become qualified teachers.
I only have a degree, no PGCE, can I work in primary
as a teacher?
Unfortunately not as to work as a primary teacher you
need to be a qualified teacher.
