Andy Crowley, Business Manager in our Reading Office
Andy joined Select Education as a Primary Consultant in January 1997. He came
from a teaching background which included 16 years experience as a Headteacher.
His change of career was a great success as his experience and knowledge helped
develop the Southampton office into one of the company's top performers.. Along
the way, Andy picked up two Consultant of the Year awards and contributed to
Southampton winning the Office of the Year Award. Also within this period, Andy
was promoted to the role of Senior Education Consultant.
Andy was then given the opportunity to further develop his recruitment skills
by being accepted on to the Select Education Management Development Course. In
conjunction with this course, Andy was also given the opportunity to carry out
two interim Business Manager roles, firstly with a four month placement in
Reading and then a six month placement in Bristol. Returning to Southampton in
July 2005, Andy gained further experience by moving to the Secondary desk.
Within a few months, the Business Manager's position in Reading became
available. Andy was successful in his application for the post and commenced
his new role in March 2005. To complete the story to date, Andy completed his
Management Development Course in December 2005 and was presented with his
certificate at the Annual Business Forum in January.

Syrah Martin, Business Manager of our Ilford Office
I joined Select Education as a Temporary Administrator for the Ilford branch in
April 2001. Throughout 6 months experience in the office, I gained invaluable
insight into the role of an Education Consultant and by the end of the year I
was offered the role of SEN Consultant to commence in January 2002. From the
outset I found the company to be a supportive one, both from within the team
and first tier management but also higher up. I enjoyed contributing to the
success of our office and achieving new milestones with my colleagues. I worked
for two years as an Education Consultant during which I was given opportunity
to work across Primary, Secondary and Special Needs sectors, developing my
skills as an all-round sales and service consultant.
In January 2004 I was encouraged to apply for a place on the two year
Management Development Programme which stretched me further and enabled me to
secure a promotion to Senior Consultant in April 2004. Just shortly afterwards
in June 2004 I was entrusted with managing my team for a 6 month maternity
cover after which I secured the permanent job as Business Manager.
Throughout my career to date with Select Education I have found the company to
invest highly in individuals' development, enabling us to take ownership of and
maximise our business on every level as well as grow within ourselves. When I
started with Select I certainly didn't see myself managing the team just over
two years later! Best consultant 2004 and most improved Manager 2005

Lisa Patient FREC, Recruitment & Training Manager
I have worked with Select Education for six years and have been in recruitment
for 14 years. I started in a business development role but was soon accepted
onto the Management Development Programme. This gave me the opportunity to take
over the management of the Reading office which gave me valuable experience for
my next role.
When Select Education launched its own training academy in 2005, a new training
role became available which I applied for. As an experienced recruiter this was
an ideal opportunity to impart all the knowledge I had gained over the years
onto new starters entering the company.
Select Education has given me the opportunity to explore new career
opportunities. The Training Manager role is the start of a new branch to my
recruitment career and one that I find immensely rewarding and gives me the
ability to really contribute to the company's success. |
