REC Logo

The Recruitment and Employment Confederation's Code of Good Recruitment Practice has been created in consultation with industry stakeholders to ensure that all members of the REC conduct their businesses ethically and to the highest standards and to promote good practice within REC membership.

Select Education is a corporate member and therefore follows and adheres to the strict operating guidelines issued by the REC Education Division Code of Practice. The Code is legally binding and acts as a safeguard for schools to ensure all agencies who are members work to consistent standard.

Some key guidelines which Select Education are required to follow are listed below;

Clients

  • On initial contact with any school, Select Education will provide clear and accurate information about the services that we provide, including clear written terms of business, policies regarding checking of references, qualifications and obtaining Criminal Records Bureau checks where relevant.
  • Select Education will endeavor to take up references as appropriate for any teacher/teaching assistant before placing them with a school. If for any reason a reference is not possible then Select Education will inform the school.
  • Select Education will carry out a face-to-face interview with every candidate prior to being put forward to the school for a position.
  • Select Education will treat any information we receive from a school as highly confidential and we will always seek to request authorisation if for any reason we need to disclose or inform any stakeholder of a relationship we have with a particular school.

Candidates

  • Upon registration, Select Education will provide clear and accurate information about the services we provide, including clear and accurate written terms of engagement.
  • Select Education will endeavor to pay all teacher/teaching assistants promptly and efficiently and in accordance with our terms and conditions. In the event of any unavoidable delay in payment, the candidate will be informed immediately of the reason for the delay, steps to be taken to resolve late payment, and likely timescale for resolution of the reason for late payment.
  • Where possible, Select Education will keep registered teacher/teaching assistants informed of their progress in seeking to find work for them and of any application for work being pursued on their behalf.

  • Select Education ensures that each Education Consultant is trained to carry out their duties effectively and our in-house Training Academy helps to ensure the performance of our staff is continually improved through the delivery of regular training sessions.
  • Select Education ensures that any teacher/teaching assistant supplied to any school is eligible to work in the UK and ensures that both the candidate and client is aware of any eligibility criteria that may apply.
