Recruitment and Employment Confederation (REC)
The Recruitment and Employment Confederation's Code of Good Recruitment Practice
has been created in consultation with industry stakeholders to ensure that all
members of the REC conduct their businesses ethically and to the highest
standards and to promote good practice within REC membership.
Select Education is a corporate member and therefore follows and adheres to the
strict operating guidelines issued by the REC Education Division Code of
Practice. The Code is legally binding and acts as a safeguard for schools to
ensure all agencies who are members work to consistent standard.
Some key guidelines which Select Education are required to follow are listed
below;
Clients

On initial contact with any school, Select Education will provide clear and
accurate information about the services that we provide, including clear
written terms of business, policies regarding checking of references,
qualifications and obtaining Criminal Records Bureau checks where relevant.

Select Education will endeavor to take up references as appropriate for any
teacher/teaching assistant before placing them with a school. If for any reason
a reference is not possible then Select Education will inform the school.

Select Education will carry out a face-to-face interview with every candidate
prior to being put forward to the school for a position.

Select Education will treat any information we receive from a school as highly
confidential and we will always seek to request authorisation if for any reason
we need to disclose or inform any stakeholder of a relationship we have with a
particular school.
Candidates

Upon registration, Select Education will provide clear and accurate information
about the services we provide, including clear and accurate written terms of
engagement.

Select Education will endeavor to pay all teacher/teaching assistants promptly
and efficiently and in accordance with our terms and conditions. In the event
of any unavoidable delay in payment, the candidate will be informed immediately
of the reason for the delay, steps to be taken to resolve late payment, and
likely timescale for resolution of the reason for late payment.

Where possible, Select Education will keep registered teacher/teaching
assistants informed of their progress in seeking to find work for them and of
any application for work being pursued on their behalf.
General

Select Education ensures that each Education Consultant is trained to carry out
their duties effectively and our in-house Training Academy helps to ensure the
performance of our staff is continually improved through the delivery of
regular training sessions.

Select Education ensures that any teacher/teaching assistant supplied to any
school is eligible to work in the UK and ensures that both the candidate and
client is aware of any eligibility criteria that may apply.
Select Education ensures that all our staff comply with the provisions of the
1973 Employment Agencies Act as amended, the Conduct of Employment Agencies and
Employment Businesses Regulations 19763 and any future amendments, other
relevant legislation, statutory codes and official guidance including that
relating to equal opportunities and equal pay, taxation, health and safety,
data protection, trade union membership, immigration, rehabilitation of
offenders, telecommunications privacy and working time.
